Trek, or travel in Afrikaans, is one of the great bicycle brands founded in 1976. Trek is one of the world's leading carbon frame manufacturers, with their first models dating back to 1992. Since its inception Trek has drawn much inspiration from the aerospace industry by using similar techniques for their aluminium and carbon frames. Trek also has its own brand of Bontrager components, which are used in most of its bikes. These include wheels, handlebars and saddles. The Trek-Segafredo team uses the brand's three flagship models: the Madone, an aerodynamic bike for flat stages, the Emonda (anagram of Madone), a very light bike for mountain stages, and the SpeedConcept for time trial stages.
